Pinterest Party

Hello!

Time for another Pinterest Party installment.  I took my inspiration from a quote again.  I like how quotes can make you laugh, think, or stop you in your tracks and refocus your priorities.

This quote, however, is of the humorous sort.  Most days, those are my favorite.  I love to laugh.  My kids love to make fun of me when I laugh.  Not because I have a particularly ridiculous laugh, but when I really laugh, like a full-on belly laugh, I sound like I need to cut back to 2 packs a day.  Either that or someone might think they need to run and find an inhaler.  I think it must have something to do with all the many wonderful occasions when I had bronchitis.  Mostly in my elementary school career, but as recently as 2 years ago.  But I digress.

So here's the quote I pinned:

Now, before I show you what I did with this quote, 1) remember I love to laugh and 2) the glasses were a day activity gift from a business trip I took with Superman a few years ago.  Most of the people on the bus didn't appreciate them until they had knocked back a few.  Me?  I didn't need the liquor to appreciate the novelty.  Only ice cream.

So here ya go:

I actually used those glasses that same year for a Halloween costume.  Aren't they crazy?!  They still make me laugh. :)

I'm pretty sure my grandkids will one day find these pictures funny and oh so telling into who Granny was and how she made Gramps behave.

So go to your Pinterest boards and let yourself be inspired.  You'll be glad you did!

Pinterest Party!

Hello!

Here's another installment of my Pinterest Party! series.  It feels so good to actually do something with all those pins I'm collecting.

So here's the pin:

Don't those colors look so yummy against that gray card base?  I also love how Amy clear embossed the polka dots to the background.

So here's my card:

This time I pretty much took the card literally.  This came together pretty quickly and like I said, I love those colors.

Well that's it for today's Pinterest Party!

Copy Cat Thursday.....on Saturday

Hello!

Whew what a long week! So glad it's the weekend!  Even though it's no longer Thursday, I thought I'd still share a Copy Cat Thursday card I did a few days ago.  This card was inspired by Laura Bassen.  You can see her original card HERE.

Here's my card:

I really gravitate toward cleaner cards but I do love to experiment with all different styles.  I think this design would look cute with little pinwheels attached to strings or flowers on stems as well.

My Friend, the Teacher

Hello!

I thought I had posted this project awhile go, but I can't find it anywhere.  I guess that means I didn't.  I have a friend, who I used to work with.  We were both Para Educators (teacher's aides but more than that) with a group of wonderful women.  We all became very close.

My friend decided to become a teacher herself.  She went to school to get her degree while still working as a Para.  Well, this year, she got her first teaching job at the very same school where we all were once Paras!  I'm so proud of her.  I always loved watching her teach her little groups.  She was so good and I'm sure her new students love her.

This lady is a very no-nonsense person.  I mean she does super fun things with her students but she doesn't go for the frilly, fru-fru decorating that some teachers do.  So, I decided to make her something to hang in her classroom.  To add some homey-ness and to commemorate her first year as a full-fledged teacher.  But something that wasn't too over-the-top.

Here's what I came up with:

Simple but cute, I think.  I cut the apple with my Silhouette using the Hall Pass papers from We R Memory Keepers.  I also used my Silhouette and one of the sketch pens to "write" her name.  It was the first time I had used my sketch pens.  I picked a font that was a little "sketchy" to make it look more realistic.  It turned out exactly how I pictured it in my head.  I love when that happens!

Now I need to go visit her classroom.  I sure wish I could make myself tiny or invisible so I could sneak in and watch her at work. ;)

Pinterest Party - a gift

Hello!

The kids are now back to school which means I'm back to work and back to trying to find a new routine.  And this little blog has taken a back seat to everything else.  Hopefully, I'll be able to get into the groove of things soon so I can blog more!

Today I wanted to show a project I made which was inspired by one of my Pins.

Here's the Pin:

Love this quote and love the colorful "awesome".  Here's what I came up with:

I made this for my friend who just got a job at my school.  Yay!  I designed the quote in my Silhouette software and sent it to my printer.  Her favorite color is purple, and it's hard to tell in this photo, but I painted the frame purple.  It looks super pretty in real life.  I'm glad she liked it.
